Angora Goats

Pictures are large files, give them time to download if you are on dial-up.

Our new goats!  We purchased two proven does (Silver & Latte) and their twins (Oreo & Praline, Ginger & Cinnamon all born in late March 07) as well as one yearling buck from '06 with a very nice fleece, we decided to call him Billy Idol.

I took some more shots of the goats now that they are older and their coats have grown out.  These goats are direct descendants from a herd in Colorado purchased over 30 years ago by the lady I got them from.  She has been continuously breeding them but recently decided to disperse her herd and retire, and by retire she means no barn work - but plenty of work on the wood turned pins and other spinning and weaving equipment she makes for sale in her home shop. Thank you GC for these wonderful goats!!!

Since these goats originally came from Colorado I wondering if they could be Navaho Angora Goats.  Feel free to comment on the 'contact us' form or on the CAGBA list at yahoo.

For the '08 season we are hoping that we'll get more kids out of Billy and Latte and Silver.  Time will tell, there is so much wool on them now I can't tell if they are pregnant or not!  The first 5 or 6 shots are from earlier in '07 right after they were sheared (not the babies, just the older ones).  The rest I took this morning after it snowed about 3 inches over night, adn we are supposed to get some more later today or tonight.

Ginger & Cinnamon, born in late March 07

Latte & Billy Idol

Latte is about 5 years old and is a red angora goat, Billy is a reverse badger and is a year old.

Silver

Silver, is 6 years old, she was born black and turned silver, when I look closely at her coat I can see both black & silver hair shafts, I'm told this is also known as a 'blue'.

Twins again with Praline, the black twin in back, and Silver. . .

The black wtin is one of Silvers kids, she is retaining her black color where her brother is turning silver just like his mom, we named him Oreo because he was black and white, but now he's mostly silver.

Latte, Oreo, Silver, Billy Idol, and one of the red twins

Now you can sort of see why we named him Oreo, he was black in the middle and white on both ends like a reverse oreo cookie. He is all silver now like his mom.

Billy Idol, his legs are clean and no top knot (and very little facial hair)

Latte and her tow kids from Spring 07

Ginger is the closest one to us, her legs are clean.

Billy again with Silver and Pralene (out of Silver).

You can easily see no top knot or facial hair on Billy.

See the legs, no or very little hair on the legs.

Ginger, wondering why I'm still around!

Again see Billy's legs are clean.

Silver & Billy, legs again are clean on both.

Another shot of Billy's face.

He finally looked up when I was ready to take a picture!!!

Pralene, clean legs, little facial hair.

This is Cinnamon & Latte.

Even though Cinnamon is in need of a hair cut you can still see his legs are fairly clean. Since he was mostly tan at 3 months (see previous pictures) and now he's more of a cream color I think he would be called a fading red.

Good shot of Billy and side view of his top knot hair (just a few and very straight).

Billy again.

Such a handsom fellow!!

This is Silver, I believe she is a blue becasue I can see hair ranging in color from silver to almost black, which is what gives her that 'blue' look.

Billy again, checking out his shadow on the rock.

Pralene, seeing if there isn't another crumb in the bowl.

Here legs are clean too.
